The objective of this project is to revitalize an existing multi-story residential complex in Karwar. The intervention is threefold: expanding the liveable footprint by adding a new top floor, modernizing the outdated exterior to give the complex a contemporary identity, and securing the building envelope against the demanding local coastal climate through rigorous waterproofing and climate-responsive design.
Karwar experiences a heavy monsoon season and a humid coastal climate. The design must prioritize weather resistance while maintaining adequate cross-ventilation and natural light.
Design & Aesthetic Objectives – The architectural language shifts the complex from a dated structure to a clean, modern residential block using a geometric, high-contrast approach.
